William Eggleston on pictures

‘The trouble is whatever it is about picures, photographs, it’s just about impossible to follow up with words. They don’t have anything to do with each other. Art, or what we call that… You can love it and appreciate it, but you can’t really talk about it. It doesn’t make any sense.’

Elizabeth Avedon

Always on the lookout for anything related to photographer Richard Avedon I stumbled upon this interview with Elizabeth Avedon, the designer who collaborated with him on some of his most memorable photo books.

Sato Hironobu

I think Sato Hironobu is one of the most talented photographers in Japan. He is also one of the nicest. We are both waiting for the right project to collaborate on.

Marie Helvin looks very contemporary together with Kenzo in this David Bailey photo from 1976.

Hedi Slimane continues to publish long and beautiful stories in Vogue Hommes Japan, this being from the current issue. The styling by Nicola Formichetti reminds me of Helmuts Lang’s bottle cap collection, which is a good thing.

Marichyasana D

I would love to do a well designed book on Yoga. I have been looking but it seems to be all but impossible to find anything that looks decent. When I do get around to it I would love for it to have photos as good as this one by Henri-Cartier Bresson.

It was published in Portfolio magazine no. 3, as part of an article called ‘Cartier-Bresson in the Orient’. Strangely enough I haven’t seen it reproduced anywhere else.
